Brushes with Life: Boosting creativity and wellbeing | Manning River Times

Mon Oct 3, 2016

“It gives me a sense of wellbeing.”

Andrew Richards is speaking about what creating art brings to his life.

The Manning resident is one of many artists contributing to this year’s Brushes with Life exhibition, which opens in Taree on Thursday (October 6).

Now in its fourth year, Brushes with Life involves a series of art workshops throughout the year, culminating in a public exhibition during mental health month where some 200 pieces will go on display.

This year the event, which is co-ordinated by Flourish Australia (formerly RichmondPRA), has received a $3000 funding boost from Regional Arts NSW.

The exhibition involves more than 70 participants including people who live with mental health issues as well as relatives, friends, carers, mental health professionals and people with a general interest in art.
