PUSH TO HAVE DEVELOPMENT CASH WAIVED

THERE have been calls for a new statewide planning strategy for affordable housing as not-for-profit organisations seek exemptions from developer contributions.

RichmondPRA has asked Holroyd Council to waive the S94 developer contribution, which would be close to $400,000 on the $8 million development at O’Neill St, Guildford.

The organisation is a notfor-profit providing community-based support, accommodation and employment options for socially disadvantaged people, particularly those with mental health issues.

It is the first time the group has donned a developer hat to build apartments, but insists any revenues will be ploughed back into its social programs.
