Centre welcome addition | Barrier Daily Truth (Broken Hill)

The Far West Local Health District has welcomed the impending opening of a local “headspace” centre early next year, saying it will be a great addition to local services.

The $1.6 million initiative will bring together a range of services for people aged from 12 to 25, including mental health and alcohol and drug services.

The director of Mental Health Drug and Alcohol Services with the Local Health District, Susan Daly, said the centre would be very good for young people.

“In a time when it can be hard to be young, when there are lots of negative news stories about young people and their future, investment in a place like headspace tells young people they’re important to the community and that we value them,” Ms Daly said.
