FEDERAL funding for the Tenterfield arm of the Partners In Recovery mental health initiative, delivered by The Benevolent Society, will be extended another 12 months thanks to a $1.77 million grant to the New England program.

In addition to Tenterfield the program, overseen by RichmondPRA, is delivered in Tamworth, Armidale, Moree, Narrabri, Gunnedah, Inverell and Glen Innes. Currently 13 clients from the Tenterfield/Deepwater area are taking advantage of the Partners In Recovery program to support them as they get their life on-track. It is designed to help people with severe and persistent mental health issues by offering coordination services between local service and support providers.

Tenterfield’s support facilitator David Townes is very pleased to hear the threeyear-old program is being extended another 12 months, straddling his clients’ transition to the new National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). He is an advocate of the program’s strength-based perspective as opposed to a traditional clinical framework.
