Funds boost services for mentally ill | Northern Daily Leader

ON THE 12-month anniversary of an innovative new approach to the delivery of mental health services across the region, the scheme has received a $300,000 funding boost aimed at helping more people in need.

New England Partners in Recovery (PIR) was launched by Richmond PRA in Tamworth in October last year, part of a national program focusing on better outcomes for people suffering severe mental illness.

Funded by the federal government, the $5.2 million local PIR program runs until June, 2016, and helps sufferers by ensuring better cohesion between local service and support providers.

“People with a mental illness can now be guided to the help they need under a one-stop-shop structure, ensuring tailor-made and start-to-finish service and support,” Richmond PRA chief executive officer Pam Rutledge said.
