Growing Food and the Community | Manning River Times (Taree)

THERE’S a lot to ‘Like’ about the new Taree Community Garden when you scroll through its Facebook page.

It’s only a few months old but its posts reveal the faces and milestone moments of an increasing community of people and organisations that are rallying to create a garden that will do more than just grow food; it will grow community.

The garden will be cultivated on a 500m2 parcel of land in Wynter Street, Taree that has been leased from the Stacks family “under an exceptionally favourable 12-month agreement with an option for renewal”, according to RichmondPRA, the organisation that is driving the project. It is a not-for-profit organisation that provides support programs for people with mental health issues and advocates communitybased assistance in the Greater Taree, Great Lakes and Gloucester regions.
