The fit-out of a youth mental health centre is still happening but it will open later than announced.

In December last year it was stated that the Far West headspace youth mental health initiative was a step closer after a two-year lease was signed to operate from a prominent location in the city with plans to open by February.

Now, at the end of March, locals may be wondering when the centre will open.

A media spokesman for Flourish Australia, the lead delivery agency for the initiative, said the centre was expected to be up and running soon.

“A clinical and operations manager has been appointed and other staff applications are being assessed,” he said.

“A lease to use the building has been signed and we are awaiting final development application approval from council.
