headspace calls in Hollywood | Barrier Daily Truth (Broken Hill)

headspace Broken Hill is holding a movie night tonight for Youth Week.

A touch of Hollywood is being used by headspace Broken Hill to mark the milestone of its helping 100 young people since starting here in August last year.

Flourish Australia, the lead agency running headspace in the city, arranged the free movie night for all youngsters, regardless of whether they had mental health issues.

With a range of activities and prizes, the evening will be an opportunity to share information about youth mental health wellbeing and what young people can do if they think they or their friends might be having problems.

The local headspace Youth Reference Group is also behind the evening.

headspace Broken Hill Manager, Rynnette Gentle, said the movie night was a fitting way to celebrate the centre’s achievements.

“It’s rewarding to know that we’ve had a direct impact on 100 young local people since opening late last year,” Ms Gentle said.

“That’s 100 young people with mental health issues who might otherwise have suffered in silence or turned to drugs or crime of fallen through the cracks in so many other ways.

“We want the community to know that our doors are open to all young people. This is a safe, discreet and relaxed environment.”

The movie tonight is ‘The Greatest Showman’ and the night runs from 5.30pm to 9pm at the headspace centre, 231 Blende Street. Food and drinks will be provided.

With limited seating, those wishing to attend are advised to book ahead of the event by calling into the centre, phoning (02) 9393 9699 or emailing headspace.brokenhill@flourishaustralia.org.au
