A new high for Brushes with Life art program | Great Lakes Advocate

Tue Sep 13, 2016

A $3000 funding arrangement with Regional Arts NSW has enabled the Manning’s annual Brushes with Life program to come back bigger and better in 2016.

Now in its fourth year, Brushes with Life involves a series of art workshops throughout the year, culminating in a public exhibition where some 200 pieces will go on display.

Involving more than 70 participants, the program has become a cornerstone of local mental health month celebrations.

It uses art as a therapy and a medium to draw attention to mental health, and encourage understanding of people who live with mental health issues.

Art enthusiasts from across the Great Lakes, Manning and other parts of New South Wales will gather in Taree for the four day exhibition which launches on Thursday October 6.

Works include paintings, drawings, sculptures and photographs produced at a series of local workshops facilitated by Brushes with Life’s artists and the event co-ordinator, Flourish Australia (formerly RichmondPRA).
