Program to help NDIS transition | Northern Daily Leader

A MENTAL health program aimed at providing easier access to support programs around the region has been extended for another year to help people transitioning into the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

The Partners In Recovery (PIR) mental health initiative has been running in the New England North West for three years, and its extension is to ensure local people accessing its services are supported to apply for and receive funding through the NDIS.

PIR will continue providing service coordination support to existing participants while also helping eligible people to transition their supports to NDIS packages, in line with the start of NDIS in this region in July

Since its introduction in June 2013, PIR has received more than 400 referrals and provided direct assistance to more than 200 people with severe and persistent mental health issues, from across the New England and North West.
