A DUBBO-BASED group committed to helping prevent suicide and supporting those who have been left behind is seeking more members, particularly community representatives, to help with its work.

The Wambool Aboriginal Suicide Prevention Team meet at the Dubbo Neighbourhood Centre on the second Friday of each month.

The group was formed in the wake of figures showing the prevalence of suicide in Indigenous communities was significantly higher than that of non-Indigenous populations.

Representatives from service providers Red Cross, The Salvation Army, RichmondPRA, Marathon Health, the Department of Human Services, Mission Australia and the Dubbo Neighbourhood Centre and community members were among those represented at the meetings.
