Wed Apr 9, 2014

RichmondPRA has announced the appointment of prominent mental health advocate Fay Jackson as General Manager, Inclusion.

Ms Jackson was selected after an exhaustive recruitment process lasting several months.

Ms Jackson is currently a Deputy Commissioner of the New South Wales Mental Health Commission and will continue in that role.

She is frequently engaged to advise state and Federal Governments and non-Government organisations (NGO’s) on mental health matters in the community. She is also a previous Director of Consumer, Carer and Community Affairs, Mental Health, with Illawarra Area Health Service.

In her role at RichmondPRA, Ms Jackson will oversee measures and practices that ensure opportunities for people with a lived experience of mental illness to lead meaningful and fulfilling lives in the community.

“Fay is a highly experienced advocate for people with a lived experience of mental illness and their families and carers,” RichmondPRA CEO Pam Rutledge said.

“She is extremely well regarded in the mental health and community services sector as an advocate, trainer and speaker.

“She has made an enormous contribution to the breaking down of stigma about mental illness by speaking publically about her own experience over many years.

“Fay brings extraordinary intellect, skill and compassion to the vital role of General Manager, Inclusion at RichmondPRA, where she will be pivotal in ensuring that we continue to progress as a consumer-led and recovery-focused organisation.”
