Flourish Australia’s Community Advisory Council was established in 2015. The council’s role is to act as a link between people who use our services and our staff, management and board of directors. It aims to help ensure that people accessing Flourish Australia's services have an opportunity to be included in policy and procedural development, organisational decision making, reviews of service provision and strategic planning.
This includes advocating for the specific needs of people accessing Flourish Australia's services, providing a forum for critical and emerging issues to be raised, consulting with Flourish services users, and passing feedback to staff and management.
Every meeting of the council includes updates and contributions from members of Flourish Australia’s Senior Leadership Team and Board of Directors, providing the council with current information on projects, planning and other happenings from across the organisation. This connection from the highest levels of management affirms Flourish Australia’s unwavering position of inclusion, transparency and shared decision-making.
Membership of the council includes people who use Flourish Australia’s services, and special consideration is taken to encourage representation in line with our Diversity strategy, including people with physical disabilities; Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people; Culturally and Linguistically Diverse people; and people who identify as part of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex community.
The Community Advisory Council membership term is two years, and members must currently be accessing a Flourish Australia service. If you are interested in joining the council, or would like to find out more, contact us today.
