Flourish Australia was honoured to welcome Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC, Governor of New South Wales and Patron of Flourish Australia, along with Mr Wilson, to our Women and Children’s Program in Western Sydney in early February.
During the visit, Her Excellency and Mr Wilson toured the cottages, activity spaces, and outdoor areas, gaining insight into how the program provides trauma‑informed, recovery‑oriented support for mothers experiencing complex mental health challenges and homelessness. They learned how the program offers a safe, nurturing environment where women can focus on their mental health recovery while building parenting skills, life skills, and confidence.
Now in its 15th year, the Women and Children’s Program has supported more than 900 mothers and children, helping families stay safely together and avoid unnecessary out‑of‑home care placements. More than 90% of families maintain safe and stable homes two years after completing the program, demonstrating the long‑term impact of this intensive, holistic support.
Her Excellency and Mr Wilson also heard about the growing demand for the service and Flourish Australia’s plans to expand its reach so more families can access life‑changing support during a critical stage in their mental health recovery journey.
