We’re proud to announce the launch of Flourish Australia’s new PeerWorkforce Framework—a landmark achievement that reflects over 20 years of leadership and learning in peer work.
This Framework is more than a document. It’s a shared foundation for how we work together to support people in their recovery journeys. Co-designed by Peer Workers, leaders, and colleagues across Flourish Australia, it captures the collective wisdom of lived experience and professional practice. Whether you’re in a designated Peer Worker role or a non-identified role, the Framework offers a common language and approach that strengthens our recovery-oriented culture.
Why It Matters
Peer Workers bring something truly unique to our organisation: the ability to connect through lived experience, modelling hope and recovery in ways that inspire trust and possibility. But their impact is amplified when all staff—regardless of role—work together, valuing each other’s perspectives and contributions.
The Framework:
- Defines the values and principles that underpin peer work.
- Provides clarity and consistency for identified Peer Worker roles.
- Supports leaders, managers, and colleagues to walk alongside and champion peer practice.
- Embeds wellbeing, peer supervision, and professional development as shared priorities.
A Message from Our CEO
Mark Orr AM shared:
“This Framework ensures our Peer Work stays true to its values and principles. It is a commitment to human rights, recovery, and the belief that everyone can live a contributing life in their community.”
Looking Ahead
Flourish Australia is already recognised as a leader in peer work. With a vision for at least 50% of our service delivery staff to be Peer Workers, this Framework sets the stage for continued growth—while ensuring that every role contributes meaningfully to psychosocial recovery supports.
At its heart, the Framework celebrates the value of lived experience. It’s what connects us, and it’s what drives our shared purpose: supporting people to live contributing lives in their communities.
