Flourish Australia was honoured to be invited by ARN to participate as charity partner in its International Women’s Day – In Conversation event, an internal Q&A series created by ARN, for ARN people.
The event brought together leaders from across media and organisational leadership to explore women’s experiences in the workplace, representation in media, leadership pathways, and the impact of mental health and wellbeing on women’s lives and careers.
Flourish Australia’s Chief Operating Officer, Susan McCarthy, joined an esteemed panel alongside Georgia Love (journalist and media personality), Lyndal Rogers (radio host, Wave FM Breakfast), and Ros Reeves (Chief People Officer, ARN). The discussion was hosted by Fiona Ellis-Jones, Head of News and Information at ARN.
Elevating women’s voices and wellbeing
Throughout the conversation, panellists shared candid insights into the opportunities and challenges women face across different industries. Susan McCarthy contributed a mental health and community services perspective, highlighting how women can experience mental health challenges differently, the barriers they may face when seeking support, and the importance of workplaces responding early to wellbeing needs.
The conversation also explored how representation, visibility, and leadership influence workplace culture, and the role organisations play in supporting women through different stages of their careers and lives.
Meaningful conversations that drive change

We extend our sincere thanks to ARN for the invitation and for recognising the importance of mental health in conversations about leadership, work, and representation. We also thank all speakers and organisers who contributed their time, insights, and leadership to make the event meaningful and impactful.
