Worm farm 'Flourishing' on inner city balcony garden

For more than 60 years, Flourish Australia have served Australian communities by providing practical support for people with lived experience of a mental health issue, as well as their families and carers, with the aim of connecting members with the skills and support they need to achieve what they want in life.

Amongst the variety of weekly timetabled activities offered to members of the Flourish Australia Wollongong Branch, a weekly drop-in ‘Gardening for Therapy’ session is offered on Tuesday afternoons. This activity offers members the opportunity to get their hands dirty, learn basic gardening skills and socialise in an informal setting on their developing balcony garden. The purpose of this garden is to provide a relaxing semi-outdoor retreat for members to meet and to provide fresh produce for the Flourish Australia café kitchen which provides nourishing meals to members.
